Robotics Team Succeeds Again!

Congratulations Team!
roboticsminiurban.jpgOn March 1st 2014, our Robotics team competed in the California Regional Mini-Urban Challenge, which was held at Dorsey High School against 16 other teams. Sun Valley Engineering Team #2 won 1st place and Best in Show. Sun Valley Engineering Team #1 won 2nd place and Best Presentation.  Both teams will now represent the California Region and return to the National competition on June 14th to defend their national title. Congratulations to Harley Contreras, Jessica Manzano, Jorge Mejia, Joshua Mejia, Marvin Mondragon, Carl Nartia, Jesus Pena, Julissa Perez, Raul Prado and Michael Sedillo. Special thanks to our fellow student, Cristobal Chavez for donating his legos. Without his generosity, we would not have won Best in Show. We also like to thank Mr. Meritt, Mr. McDonnell and Bob Whitten our mentor.

On February 22, 2014, the SVHS Robotics team competed against 39 other teams at the Orange Lutheran High School Late February Vex Tournament.  All four teams made the playoffs and two teams became Tournament Champions.  This qualifies the SVHS Robotics team to attend the State VEX Competition, which will be held March 14-16th in Santa Clara.  Jessica Manzano is the first team member to go undefeated in the qualifying matches.  She was focused and dedicated in spending her own personal time to perfect her driving skills.  The SVHS Robotics teams consisted of Jesus Pena, Carl Nartia, Jessica Manzano, Jorge Mejia, Raul Prado, Eric Hernandez, Joshua Mejia, and Marvin Mondragon. Be sure to congratulate them on their success.  They worked long hours and are truly dedicated to building, programming, and adjusting their robots.  Congratulations to all team and support staff involved. Go TEAM!
